My view, for what it’s worth, is that while the deal may make sense from the defensive perspectives of Microsoft and Yahoo!, Although Google is experiencing some wobbles at the moment, I am not convinced that a Microsoft/Yahoo! Uber has been in the news this week for hiding knowledge of a data breach of 57 million customers for over a year (the rotters; if only the fines in GDPR were based on market value not annual revenue), and of course the 500 million odd user Yahoo breach (added to the earlier one billion user data breach). We are at a time in history when data breaches are becoming more prevalent and more frequent. Equifax was compromised for 143 million people.
