Here is a 12" apples from Washington state. It was painted from life on the Olympic peninsula of Washington state. I did not do a preliminary drawing but just painted directly with the brushes. Beneath the painting you can see my set up and part of the scene.

Here is a 11" x 14" painting of a meadow on the Olympic peninsula of Washington state. It is done from life in the plein air style. I did not do a preliminary drawing but just painted directly with the brushes. I was not looking to exactly copy the scene but rather be inspired by it.

Here is more on my stay in Washington state.    Chimacum  is a town on the Olympic peninsula in Washington state. It has a great farmer's market that also points to an rural artist studio tour.

I climbed this mountain in 1984 but doubt I could do it again now. I was there this summer and it remains as beautiful as ever. As frequently happens, the top of the mountain was covered by clouds. The last pctures were taken from the plane.

Going to Top of Mount Washington

This summer I went to the top of Mount Washington in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It is the site of most of the worst weather in the world and the highest recored winds at 242 miles per hour. We drove to the top but I have climbed it in the past.

I was recently in Washington DC for the KM World 2010 and Enterprise Search Summit 2010. I still get excited to walk around our capital and enjoyed looking at the buildings and taking in a few museums while there. Growing up in New Orleans I am partial to Southern food so I looked for this offering in DC. Below are my findings. The first three I tried and found excellent. Acadiana captures the spirit of Louisiana where I grew up.

The third act was Toni Lynn Washington , a great blues singer who often appears at Boston clubs I have gone to the last three Onset Bay Blues Festivals and greatly enjoyed them. I again attended the 2009 festival on August 1. It was great as always.

Enterprise Search Summit Moves to Washington DC for Fall 2010

The Fall Enterprise Search Summit has moved to Washington DC on November 16 – 18 along with KM World. It will be at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel. I enjoyed last year’s joint session and wrote a bit about it (see for example My Enterprise Search Summit Notes: The Role of Social Techniques in Search and How It Impacts Your Organization ).   My Darwin colleague Thierry Hubert and I also enjoyed the May 11 - 12 Enterprise Search Summit held in New York.

I plan to attend this the Enterprise Search Summit this November in Washington DC. I was at the last one in NYC in May and the one before in Santa Clara in November 2009. It is a great conference and I look forward to the next one. This session will meet at the same time and place as KM World 2010, just as did last year in November. I will be moderating a day's set of sessions at KM World and writing about both conferences.

So the Friday of the Washington DC Storytelling event took place in the S Dillon Ripley Center at the Smithsonian. storytelling washingtonIt was a Steve Denning production with four speakers and Madelyn Blair MCing. The auditorium was huge but the seats were bolted down lecture-style which didn't make for a particularly collaborative experience.

KM World 2010 Moves to Washington DC and Enterprise Search Summit 2010 Comes to NYC

This year's KM World Conference & Exhibition has moved to Washington, D.C. It will be November 16 - 18, 2010 at Marriott Renaissance, The Enterprise Search Summit 2010 will be at the New York Hilton on May 11-12. It is nice to see these two conferences on the East Coast. I went last year in the November to the combined conference in San Jose. I will be presenting at the Enterprise Search Summit 2010 with my Darwin Colleague, Thierry Hubert.
