Images from Seattle's Central District

Portals and KM

The Central District is an interesting area within Seattle and I sepnt a few weeks there in August. Historically, the Central District has been one of Seattle's most racially and ethnically diverse neighborhoods and is the center of Seattle's black community.

Workshop in Seattle

Michael Sampson - Currents

I've been working with a client in Seattle on user adoption for a SharePoint-based team collaboration application over the past two days (using the User Adoption In-House Workshop as the basis). I've really enjoyed being in Seattle, and the opportunity to work with the specific client. Tomorrow (Thursday) I have meetings in Seattle, and will then be heading to California on Thursday night for a couple of days, before heading across to Atlanta for Share 2012.

Unpresenting With Heather Gold in Seattle

Nancy White

In April, the amazing, wonderful and talented Heather Gold came to Seattle and ran one of her “unpresenting&# workshops for us. You may notice the uptick in blogging. I have such a queue of draft blog posts that I resolved to start getting them out. While I was still raw from the death of my dad, I was still able to absorb some of her wonderful advice, mostly captured with some sketchnotes.

Coming Up Over the Next Two Weeks - Seattle and Atlanta

Michael Sampson - Currents

There are two specific reasons for my visit to the US: - a private user adoption workshop with a client in Seattle. - I've been quiet here for the past 10 days, because I've been completing the final preparation for my trip to the United States, which starts on Monday. (I I have also been working on a couple of posts for The Smarter Office blog, but they haven't been published yet.) When I get to the United States and into the flow of my schedule, my blogging here will pick up.

Seattle was spent in the awesome company of Nancy White and her kin. Yes - as the trip continues, the title references are getting worse. Nancy has forgotten more about online community development than I will ever know. We talked about her recent trip to Ethopia, her whitepaper with Shawn & Mark, the forthcoming book with John D Smith & Etienne Wenger , the fantastic work of the Skillet Street Food Company. online communities nancy white

System dynamics in Seattle

Making Sense With Facilitated Systems

I just ordered texts for IMT 586, Information Dynamics I , in the Information School of the University of Washington , which reminds me to tell any of you at UW or within commuting distance who have been interested in system dynamics that we do plan on teaching system dynamics again this winter quarter. Registration starts November 7. If there's enough interest, we hope to teach the follow-on IMT 587 in spring 2009. If you take IMT 586 this winter, consider leaving time in your spring schedule.

Global Health in Seattle: The “Proximity Advantage”

Influence

Forum One held two roundtable discussions in Seattle in the past couple of weeks on global health web communications as well as data collection, management, and dissemination. As a mid-sized city with a collection of world-class global health organizations, Seattle has a unique opportunity to leverage the power of community and our “proximity advantage” (as one participant put it) to innovate and break down obstacles to success.

Seattle Data for Global Health roundtable
