It was the eighth annual conference in New Zealand (having been renamed from the original “SharePoint Conference”), and the 21st conference put on by ShareThePoint across New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Last week I attended the Digital Workplace Conference in Auckland. There were about 600 people at the conference, with conference sessions spanning two days, along with both pre-conference and post-conference workshops.

It was supposed to be state of the art, and have all worst cases figured out. Until this week. the data centre was down for two days: " IBM's $80 million data centre in South Auckland has now been down for more than 30 hours and customers say the outage is having a serious impact on their businesses.

The New Zealand Dollar to United States Dollar is at or near it's all time high. Anyway, I can't figure out why products are becoming more expensive in New Zealand - such as the Apple iPhone 4. In the US, with AT&T, the Black iPhone 4 with 16GB is US$199 for a new customer. Today US$100 is equivalent to NZ$124. Seven or eight years ago, it was US$100 to NZ$220.

Improved Facilities at LAX for Transiting to London with Air New Zealand

I have flown fairly often with Air New Zealand to London during the past four-to-five years, but have almost always chosen to fly from New Zealand via Hong Kong instead of transiting through the United States. Unfortunately Air New Zealand cancelled the Hong Kong to London option earlier this year, and so my flights to and from London next month are through LAX. Getting to Poland

On Friday evening I left New Zealand and headed to Warsaw. This involved four flights – three with Air New Zealand to get to London Heathrow, and then one with British Airways to get to Warsaw. I left home in New Zealand at 5pm Friday, and got to my hotel in Warsaw at 6.30pm Saturday, so it was just over 36 hours in transit. Prior to leaving New Zealand I looked for English speaking churches in Warsaw, and found two.
