A long flight necessitated by a late date travel change, had my flying through Chicago yesterday, getting a quick connection and beating my bags to Minneapolis. MPL is the second nicest airport in North America after Vancouver. Lovely layout, good food options and easy to get around. Also friendly United ground crew who got my bag to me with no problems. I’m staying downtown, reached easily by the LRT from the airport.

SharePoint Saturday Twin Cities in October 2015

Michael Sampson - Currents

I head to Canada for a client meeting in mid-October, which works perfectly for dropping by Minneapolis on the way home to attend and speak at SharePoint Saturday Twin Cities. It’s hard to travel specifically to such events from New Zealand, but when it works in with other travel routing it works great. I will be giving two talks at the event: the first on Re-Imagining Effective Work, and the second on User Adoption Strategies.

A world full of knowmads in 2020?

Joitske Hulsebosch

It was great that John Moravec himself participated in the MOOC from Minneapolis and we could just ask any questions and the next morning we read his answers. John Moravec was the first to coin the term knowmad in the book Knowmad society.

Leadership is theatre

Chris Corrigan

This fall I have been really lucky to study and work alongside Alyssa Schwartz in New York and Wendy Morris in Minneapolis. Both of these women are actors and performance artists, and in my working with them I have become cracked wide open to the reality of leadership and ACTION as performance, best trained through understanding the relationship of the inner body to the outer, the presence of the individual in relation to the collective and relational field.

Binding affordances and GIS in hybrid places

Taming the spaces

Minneapolis, University of Minnesota Press. There is an interesting paper that provides some ideas how to use affordances together with geographical coordinates. This would enable the practical exploration of geolocative spaces. However, this framework is yet limited in describing hybrid places - the various virtual artifacts and meanings and action cules that are simultaneously mapped geolocatively must be part of the place description with affordances.

SXSW Notes: The Curators and the Curated

Portals and KM

David said that when he worked for a Minneapolis paper that got selective on ads and the paper failed while the one that was non-selective survived.  Here is another in my series on SXSW events. I am pleased to be attending SXSW for the first time. I am grateful for Adobe Acrobat for enabling me to attend. I will be attending their all day Creative Camp Event on March 12 , as well as some other Adobe sponsored sessions.

Beauty in the midst of impermanence

Chris Corrigan

My journey this week to the Twin Cities Minneapolis and St. My friend Norah Rendell is a traditional musician of the highest calibre. She is a beautiful singer and a gifted Irish flute player and a curious and lively human being. To be around her is a delight and to make music with her is to be carried away in a space of grace and beauty where we can find out what it means to be truly human. I’ve just spent the better part of last weekend visiting with her in St.
