Enterprise Microblogging Use Cases: Help Reduce Your Inbox Clutter!

Earlier on today, and through my Twitter stream, I bumped into a rather interesting blog post put together by Chelsi Nakano under the heading “? Roll-up: Businesses Love Microblogging “, which is pretty close to another one shared by her the previous day under the title “?

Is Twitter Where Connections Go to Die? – The Unfollowing Experiment – The Follow-Up

Indeed, while re-reading through ‘ Is Twitter Where Connections Go to Die? – One thing I can share with you all is that once I have seen the light of a much smarter way of using Twitter through public lists alone it’s rather tough to go back to anything else for that matter, so I haven’t.

Is Twitter Where Connections Go to Die? – The Unfollowing Experiment

Over three years ago I wrote a blog entry over here about Twitter under the provocative heading: ‘ Twitter is where conversations go to die ’. I still love Twitter, as I wrote just recently. Why do we follow people on Twitter in the first place?

Engineers without Fears

James D talks about microblogging & Luis talks about a specific application for emergency services. I've noted my personal preferences recently but for me microblogging has got F.A. I see Twitter & Facebook status info as presencing technologies and as James notes, they have more to do with SMS & IM than blogs & wikis. to do with blogging. My posts tend towards the terse but I generally break the 160 character barrier.

Microblogging In The Enterprise

It was inevitable that Twitter-like services would emerge targeting a business audience. microblogging??? about how people foresee microblogging taking off within the enterprise ??? In fact, the other debate that will go on internally within enterprise organizations will be the overlap between microblogging tools and instant messaging tools that support group chat. Portals and KM

There seems to be a lot of names floating around for what many people call Twitter for the enterprise. Of course Twitter is not for the enterprise any more than Facebook is for the use inside the firewall. Traction Team Page has also recently incorporated microblogging into their wiki-based platform. While these consumer web tools can be used by business people for public social networking, they lack the features for business applications.

Can Twitter Benefit Business Executives?

Enterprise Twitter: Clarity Amid The Hype

Collaborative Thinking

With public Twitter, people use nicknames. Microblogging helps discover the interesting people, and the links to rich work-context profiles reveal more about what the person does and what they know. Within an enterprise, any type of "Twitter" system will be linked to directory systems in much the same way as e-mail and instant messaging systems are linked via address book synchronization techniques. With public twitter, one of the common usage patterns is to share links.

Twitter Symbology Proposed For The FDA

Collaborative Thinking

In a telephone news briefing, PhRMA proposed an "FDA-Approved Use of Universal Safety Symbol" that could be used in branded/sponsored ad links (eg, Adwords) and Twitter posts (see image below). Universal symbol could be used on search engines, blogs, microblogs, video. Interesting idea, although I'm not sure a symbol alone provides enough assurance for consumers. never mind the governance aspects around use of the symbol, monitoring, enforcement, etc.

We need more research like this.
