Office for Mac 2011. Microsoft announced details of Office for Mac 2011, with plans for better compatibility with Windows, improved collaboration tools, and a better UI. Also, as Microsoft announced last August, the suite will include Outlook for Mac, which replaces Entourage as Office's e-mail client. Aim: to make the Windows and Mac editions more functionally compatible. The Ribbon is coming to Office for Mac. - More Lotus on iPhones and Macs.

SharePoint and Mac. The Mac BU at Microsoft is working on an offline SharePoint tool for Mac users, but it's not just a Mac edition of SharePoint Workspace. " It will not be a Mac equivalent of Groove, the Office collaboration desktop client that will become SharePoint Workspace in the upcoming Office 2010, the SharePoint team told ZDNet UK. The promised tool also will not offer Groove's existing peer-to-peer features on the Mac.

But the four Macs - 2x Mac Mini and 2x iMacs - are used a lot. I've written my three books in Word on the Mac. I have helped various people switch from Windows to Mac over recent years - including my Dad to an iMac 27 last year. He emailed me last month to say he was having problems with applications quitting on his Mac, and he said "I thought this didn't happen on Macs." Indeed, it was Word 2011 for Mac.

I really like Evernote - for it's cross-platform support (Mac, PC, and iPad especially), the cloud-based synchronization service, the tags across notebooks, and more. I have been using Evernote intensively for much of this year, and I think I'm hitting its limits - and far too soon for my liking. I only have 408 items across 6 Evernote notebooks. but it's becoming really sluggish. For example, I'm typing a sentence, finish typing the words, and Evernote is a few words behind.

Using Office 365 and Office Web Apps for a Project – Reflections

Congratulations to Microsoft for the very good support of Safari on the Mac in Office 365. Since there is no Office Web App for Project, the Project file downloaded to my Mac. A quick search of the Mac App Store found the Seavus Project Viewer , which opened the Project file with almost 100% fidelity (it didn’t show some of the task coloring).
