Agile international development?

Net-Map Toolbox

So while I talked with the software developers and coaches at the agile coach camp last weekend, I kept thinking: What if we used the principles that they use to make software development more participatory, user-oriented and faster learning and adopted them in international development projects? In my years of working with international development projects I have seen all different kinds, but I must say, a lot of projects still are heavy on the right hand side.

Internationalism is not globalization

Chris Corrigan

What I love is internationalism. By contrast, internationalism is essentially what we have in the community: a slow exchange of ideas, creative collaboration that both respects borders and cultural realities and transcends them as well. The EU was born on the twin pillars of internationalism and globalization. We are on a fast track to more global deals with less internationalism what we really need is a radical rebalancing the other way

"Collaboration" vs "Social Media" = "Internal Collaboration" vs "External Engagement"

Michael Sampson - Currents

Generally, Social Media is aimed externally, outside the walls of your business, (customers, vendors, competitors) and Collaboration is aimed internally, inside the walls of your business, (employees). Getting new customers, and keeping current clients will increase profits, just as enhancing productivity and improving internal business processes will increase profits. David, my 13 year old son, forwarded this to me yesterday. It obviously tickled his fancy! Recently, a worldwide survey was conducted and the only question asked was: "Would you please give your honest opinion about the solution to the food shortage in the rest of the world?". The survey was, not surprisingly, a huge failure. Because: In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant. In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.
