How to avoid getting sick in India

Jenny Connected

In today’s live ChangeMooc session with Antonio Vantaggiato [link] (which I will come to again in another post), I was sorry to hear that Stephen Downes, George Siemens and Dave Cormier all suffered from ‘Delhi Belly’ as a result of their trip to India. Avoiding getting sick in India. These strategies have worked for me over many visits to India. And I should end by saying that I absolutely love India. Tagged: #change11 , changemooc11 , India.

Portals and KM

Titled, Social Media Thought Leader: India's Gautam Ghosh by Shel Isreal, it goes into many of the great things Gautum has done over the years in this space. Practical example: UNDP in India

Joitske Hulsebosch

Steve Glovinsky from UNDP reported in com-prac about the communities of practice for development practitioners in India. The communities are across organisations. Even though he anticipated cultural resistance this did not occur. The UN platform lends the site impartiality and network moderators who are respected in their own fields and provide lots of encouragement. Some explicit design parameters have been put in place like the absence of titles in the names.

The Role of the Service Sector in the Indian Economy

Jenny Connected

On a recent trip – 2-9 th January 2012 – to Chennai (formerly Madras) in India, I attended part of a small conference, which focussed on the role of the services sector on the growth of the Indian economy. This conference was organised by Lancaster University’s India Centre. The current situation in India is that the growth rate of services has overtaken both agriculture and industry and is now more than 50% of GDP. India therefore has a services-oriented economy.

What are your expectations? Were they met?

The larger roads in northern India have lane markings. Everyone talks about the traffic in India yet it’s not possible to really know what it’s like without actually being in it. They appear to be indicative, as is the direction of traffic.

Design-a-rupee

Endless Knots

Title = "for India's Rupee, a New Identity," by Rama Lakshmi, Wash Post, May 16, 2009. Sharpen your pixels, designers. There's a contest to come up with a symbol for the Indian Rupee like $ or € or £ or ¥, all of which amazingly are on my iPhone keyboard. Having said that, I have to also say that I have no idea how to find the link to the Washington Post article I'm reading at the moment using only my iPhone.

Where Do Old Computers Go To Die?

Portals and KM

However, Western countries are increasingly exporting this problem to places like India. Here is an interesting story with great pictures, Where Old Computers Go To Die from PSFK. It reports that the old Commodore 64 or Apple IIC most likely wind up in a landfill somewhere (unless they’re collecting dust in your parents’ attic) still carrying a bevy of toxic materials like mercury, cadmium and lead to their graves.

The place of ‘the teacher’ in relation to open content
