IBM Verse – Email Reimagined

Michael Sampson - Currents

Of course I’m talking about the news and announcement from IBM around Mail Next, the code name for what has become IBM Verse. You can see the news and announcement directly from IBM, and find a whole lot of link love from others. I was pre-briefed on Mail Next last week, and was actually even in the crowd at IBM Connect in January this year when Mail Next was announced. It looks pretty, sure, and I commend IBM for making something so eye candy’ish.

Why I Fired Myself from IBM

Most people may not know this, but back in June 2005, while I was still an IBM Netherlands employee, I got laid off and after having received the well-known compensation package I decided that I wasn’t ready, just yet, to leave the company. So was it then my time, beginning of 2014, when I decided to quit IBM and move on? So, while we were talking, he asked me why I made the decision of leaving IBM after everything I have (helped) build over the course of time.

Embracing IBM Verse: Moving Beyond Technology to Gaining Value

Michael Sampson - Currents

At the local IBM Connect event in the Netherlands today, I presented on IBM Verse. In the presentation I made the following points: – the promise of IBM Verse is good. – there are some user adoption strategies that could be applied to the introduction of IBM Verse. It’s still early days of IBM Verse being used in organisational life, so the profiling of strategies is about what could be done (prescriptive) instead of what is being done (descriptive).
