Google released Google Sync for iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows Mobile devices, extending over-the-air synchronization to Gmail. Owners of iPhones, iPod Touches, and Windows Mobile phones can now set it up to include Gmail messages as well. BlackBerry and Nokia Symbian Series 60 users won't have push access to Gmail yet, but they can still sync calendar and contact events to the phone's built-in address book and calendar. Offline Gmail. Google announced offline support for Gmail, albeit in experimental mode. Kevin writes, " Once you enable the feature, Gmail will pull down and store a local copy of your mailbox. Instead, Gmail will intelligently switch to offline mode by itself whenever it realizes there’s no connection. Once Gmail sees a connection, those actions take place on the server side and mail sitting in your Outbox is sent. EverNote and Google Notebook.

I've recommended a few email security measures (encryption, signatures) in the past, but I suspect they were a bit technical for most people. Follow the installation instructions, and give it a try. You'll need a passphrase to use it. While you can generate a passphrase a number of ways, I like Diceware.

The car manufacturer that sells highly desirable vehicles that most people will never own, has a highly undesirable email culture that most organizations would prefer not to own ( Telegraph , Stuff ). Ferrari is attempting to do something about it, and all kudos to them for attacking the problem. I question, however, whether it is going to do enough or take the right road.

PS: Gmail didn't do it so well, either, the last time I tried it; it put the cursor at the top of replies. In researching this article, At least it's not too hard to do it manually in Gmail. I found Gmail bottom posting in replies , which seems to promise help. Until recently, I had only used Outlook for a short period in 1998-99. It was okay, but I only used it inside a corporate context. The feature I most enjoyed was the calendaring and appointments function.
