Ponderings on Network & Community Governance Part 1

Full Circle Associates

One of them has been a reflection on the governance of KM4Dev, particularly the role of the current Core Group and the overall business model. As I read the messages, there were those who advocated a strong group for governance, for a paid secretariat staff.

Follow-up from the Leadership Learning Community Webinar

Nancy White

Any tips or recommended resources for facilitating hybrid online/phone focus groups with smaller groups (5-15 max)? Also, any recommendations re: optimal group size for this sort of interaction? If the group is all online – you are lucky. The most challenging groups are mixed online and offline. 3) Group size issues are similar to those F2F. Consider focusing the domain in a way that carries relevance for people NOW.

Productivity in a Networked Era – Assessing ROII (Return on Investment in Interaction)

John Tropea - Delicious Community

We are witnessing the death throes of management models that have outlived their usefulness. As Steven Forth of the LeveragePoint division of the Monitor Group puts it, “Too many people who talk about the ROI of learning are focused on being precisely wrong rather than directionally correct.”. Taylor’s brilliant research and models, generations of managers have carried stopwatches and pored over measurements in a continual quest to make things work better.

16 Problems Only Models Face. While the study, which surveyed 156 teens ages 11-19, covers a wide range of issues surrounding privacy and teen internet use, the clearest narrative thread in the focus groups is one that’s troubling for the world’s largest social network. According to the study: In focus groups, many teens expressed waning enthusiasm for Facebook. politics. business. sports. ideas. entertainment. celebrity. music. fashion. rewind.

Community ROI Report

John Tropea - Delicious Community

Summary: Not surprisingly, discussion groups were the most popular online communityactivity, followed closely by blogs, support forums and social networks. Creating a clear ROI model for most organizations is clearly a priority, even those not under immediate pressure to communicate value. The majority of respondents feel their initiatives are adding value, but can’t provide a complete ROI model. It’s a 24/7 focus group.

The Social Organization: Do Enterprises Have the Patience to Develop Communities?

John Tropea - Delicious Community

Communities – and I don't mean flash mobs, groups of 10 people, or eventattendees because those are not communities – take time to develop andflourish. Networks are the canonical model of human social interaction.
