When Brad Beach (of Chisholm) and I were noodling on what I might share through my fellowship, I was exceedingly happy that he was willing to step out of the more traditional practices and dive into visual or graphic facilitation.

Some recent harvests

Chris Corrigan

So a little time to breathe and reflect on a couple of harvests. Second, a harvest poem from the Open Space I ran yesterday in Kelowna. With Open Space these days I am trying as much as possible to have a place in which a meta harvest can be collected and created. Most often this looks like a graphic recorder who gathers materials and snippets from the sessions and co-creates a harvest with session conveners and participants.

The curse of predetermining outcomes

Chris Corrigan

Entraining your mind to outcomes is the hardest practice to beat as a facilitator working in complexity. It will shape your process, and cause you to harvest only what you are looking for, missing out on the juiciest, most powerful places of potential in a system.

Just about the most fun you can have getting paid

Chris Corrigan

We were hired by the Aboriginal Housing Management Association of BC to facilitate dialogue at this 800 person international gathering. The sponsor made dialogue a clear priority and after talking about intentions, we arrived on the design of three World Cafes: one in the plenary with everyone present and two in more focused breakout sessions. Our first challenge was to think about how to harvest stories and connections quickly from 800 people.
