Here are my images: But hold on to your socks, because Amy Lenzo also recruited two of the BEST graphic facilitators to listen and scribe what they heard, Nancy Margulies and Susan Kelly. I simply LOVE these harvests.

Polarities to help design harvesting

Chris Corrigan

Yesterday in a webinar for the Art of Hosting Applied Practice cohort I threw out a set of ideas around harvesting that were prompted a bit by experience and a bit by the questions that participants were asking. ” The act of paying attention to that is called “harvesting.” ” Harvesting planning needs a coherent scheme to structure the work and it is important to focus on all kinds of different outputs and outcomes from a process. Through the Dark Mountain: A Harvest of Myths

How to Save the World

Here is the Harvest, in alphabetical order (grouping seemingly related myths, and some of their opposites): Activism: that well-coordinated activism at the right scale can change the world. Or that activism beyond the local scale is futile, that our future is fated and unalterable.

Exploring future possibilities by mapping “dispositionalities”

Chris Corrigan

We deliberately created a space where things were allowed to fail or radically change and we harvested learning all the way along. This learning was summarized in a report, but the bigger harvest was the capacity that each participant built to take steps to sense, design and implement change initiatives with a better informed complexity approach. A decade of living and learning, hosting and harvesting

Chris Corrigan

Since then, I have facilitated literally hundreds of gatherings from two person retreats to international conferences using a variety of participatory methodologies. So that’s my edge to work on for the future. As summer begins to close here on the west coast of Canada, I’m starting to head back to work, digging into to 20 or so projects that will unfold in the next nine months, which will take me across Canada, the US, Hawaii, Estonia, Denmark and Australia.

Nuanced preferences instead of voting for sense making

Chris Corrigan

The brief was pretty straightforward: help us decide between four possible scenarios about our future. What was smart about this exercise was the fact that the scenarios were left in very draft form so there was no way they could be confused for a “vision” of the future.

Announcing two workshops for September 2016

Michelle Laurie

This year I am very excited to host two workshops focused on the use of visuals in our facilitation practice. We are treading into new territory as we explore the role of visuals in design and facilitation. We are looking to push our boundaries (and yours) in terms of the role of visuals in design and facilitation. What is the process of others capturing and harvesting content? The second is the 7th annual Rosviz graphic facilitation workshop.

That is how I felt after doing two graphic facilitation workshops back to back. The last half of day two isn’t drawn yet so in the meantime, a quick summary is that we spend most of the afternoon doing collective visual harvests of what we learned.

Insights on the nature of the times

Chris Corrigan

We have just been harvesting out of a World Cafe that was held on the question of &# What time it is in the world?&# We used a design I have been using with teams and communities that are needing to do deep sensing. I listened with a poet’s ear tuned to the harvest and this is what I heard: You have to be ready to die on the hill atop which you have heard the deepest call of the world.

Joitske Hulsebosch

I thought a learning style test was a nice ramp up for an exercise where people had to blog about their own facilitator style - from the idea that it is good to know your own preferences and biases as a trainer/facilitator. And how to work with this as online facilitator?
