Getting More out of Online & Offline Events

We've been helping groups for many years with ways to have a little more influence and get a little more impact out of their online and offline events. Here are ten things that have worked for us well in the past: Conduct a live online interview with one or more interesting figures to warm the group up to the event & to get a feel for the big issues in advance. Create a short video to publicize the event & post it on YouTube to generate some interest.

Joitske Hulsebosch

Last year we've experimented with various social media to improve a sharing event for about 100 participants (for more details see my older blogpost ). People were especially happy to connect and read before the event. An one-off event is not going to create communities, but can give a space to communities to connect with new people. Through your event people may also get to know new communities that they may join.

Follow-up from the Leadership Learning Community Webinar

We were using a GoToWebinar platform, which I’ll admit, I don’t like because it is really a broadcast tool, with no peer to peer interaction and all participant interaction funneled to one person (and there were four of us involved in producing the event, so lots of forwarding, etc.) The most challenging groups are mixed online and offline. The other is the Knowledge Sharing Toolkit , a collaborative effort to capture a variety of online and offline methods.
