What harvesting tool works best?

Chris Corrigan

A colleague emailed today and asked me this question: “which tool do you use when you have to analyse the content of your harvest with groups?&#. The principle would be this: “Participatory process, participatory harvest, simple process, simple harvest&# The primary tool I use in complex decision making domains is diversity. Full Circle Associates " Harvesting knowledge from text conversations

John Tropea - Delicious Community

John Smith asked me to write up the practice some of us have been nurturing on the KM4DevWiki to encourage summarizing and harvesting of learnings from key community conversations in our email list on to a wiki. There are often amazing threads on email lists and web based discussions.

Basic design for extraordinary conversations

Chris Corrigan

This is often when those of us who are consulting facilitators are brought into an organization. The second phase is hosting and harvesting. A further consideration for hosting and harvesting is to balance the three domains of work, relationship and co-learning.

It was clear that the email lull of the holidays was over. It actually creates more division, rather than facilitates connections.

Society is the still face

Chris Corrigan

On the first day I facilitated an Open Space event that brought together reserachers and brain scientists to discuss their findings and on the second day, we had panelists and Teresa ran a half day cafe to look at the implications of the research for policy making. Enjoy the harvest.

Due to travel and availability we were not always actively facilitating the groups.

How to be a Network Gardener

Net-Map Toolbox

They are called “Network Facilitators”, “Network Organizers” or even “Network Managers” But I think the term “Network Gardener” describes much more tanglibly, what those people do who help large and dispersed networks of people grow toward common goals. Harvest: Your network can bear amazing fruit. But if there is no one to harvest it, it will be there just for a moment and then be gone.

Ask Idealware: Solutions for Tagging and Archiving a Discussion List | Full Circle Associates

Nancy White

It was a great question so I happily shot off an answer in email. The vast majority of this group tells me they will be most likely to participate if something comes to their email inbox, not if they have to go to a blog to read and make comments. The real challenge is most discussion tools haven’t yet integrated tagging even in web interfaces, and I have not seen any that enable tagging via email. Combine an email list, tagging tool, and wiki.
