Coming to Your Senses with Iain McGilchrist

Jenny Connected

I have just returned (exhausted, but exhilarated) from a four day course in the Cotswolds – Exploring the Divided Brain. Coming to Your Senses. The course focuses on the work of Iain McGilchrist, principally his book The Master and His Emissary. The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World.

Re-Thinking Return on Investment for Office 365

Michael Sampson - Currents

How much do you pay every month for your employees’ Office 365 subscription? Research shows that the payments made by Microsoft customers for Office 365 are not being met with parallel value gains in return. Migrating to Office 365 is not enough to pay back your investment. The real value of Office 365 comes when you and your employees start changing work processes to take advantage of the capabilities in Office 365. This is the core adoption issue.

One dinner learning: science, reading and snails

Mathemagenic

After a few hot days yesterday’s dinner was inside. Rain was coming, together with lightning and thunder. Alexander and I had to run upstairs – we needed to see how the next iteration of our self-watering system on the balcony and roof works.

Learning to See More

Michael Sampson - Currents

How do you learn to see what you can’t? Or to put it another way, how can you increase your ability to pay attention to and describe what presents itself before your eyes? It’s all there for the seeing, but if you lack the eyes to see, it might as well not be. My wife often asks, “What do you think of the new flowers in the garden?” ” Or “Isn’t the blossom lovely on the tree this year” (although not in June in New Zealand, mind you). “Is it?”

Abstract: Globalizing society faces an ever-expanding web of wicked problems. Community networks are at the heart of building the required collaboration capacity for achieving collective impact. One bottleneck is the process of common agenda setting among such widely diverging stakeholder networks.

Remembering the Fundamentals in Presenting

Michael Sampson - Currents

The security presentation by Michael Sampson was very basic, he went on for about 20 minutes about various different types of Phising emails, the level of the audience really didn’t need that level of information. When I asked a question at the end other presenters were happy to come back to me with answers where as Michael didn’t seem overly concerned to answer my question.

ROI and Office 365 at the SharePoint and Office 365 User Group in Christchurch

Michael Sampson - Currents

I headed into the city early yesterday morning to present on ROI and Office 365. It’s almost an hour from my place to where the session was being held, and not wanting to get caught in the morning rush hour traffic, I left while it was still dark. I stopped at the mall to pick up a couple of items that I needed for my talk (e.g., Vapodrops for a clear throat), and made it to the presentation location just a few minutes after 8am.
