The politics of implementation

Net-Map Toolbox

Last week I went to an interesting event by the Society of International Development ( SID ) about innovative approaches in health system financing in developing countries. But what I found most interesting happened in the discussion, when one of the audience members got up and said: “In the end, it’s all about the politics of implementation” The whole room full of international health and finance expert nodded so vigorously that I felt like the ground was shaking.

Probes, Prototypes and Pilot projects

Chris Corrigan

I’ve been working in the world of program development with a lot of complexity and innovation and co-creation lately and have seen these three terms used sometimes interchangeably to describe a strategic move. A pilot is a project designed to prove the worthiness of an approach or a solution.

A SNS allows people to “see” the temporal structures of social life over time; people develop a rhythm in their use of a SNS that helps enable a sense of community. These occur collectively (questioning, analyzing, modeling, examining, implementing, reflecting, and consolidating) and are embedded within an expansive learning cycle.

An alternative perspective on the meaning of ‘open’ in Higher Education

Jenny Connected

Although technologies are developing at a speed inconceivable a few years ago, and the number of MOOCs being offered is daily increasing, things tend to move slowly in Higher Education. In recent work that I have done on the development of ‘closed’ online courses/training packages, which are paid for, it has been interesting to realize that maybe a ‘step’ towards an understanding of the meaning of openness is through collaboration across institutions and countries.

Success factors (which were in place before the project started): - (1) we had a good answer to the question "why now?" including taxonomy, metadata, the design concept (working from collaboration sites that publish through to the intranet). - (7) establishing a process to roll this out to the business, along with developing a team to support this. Nadine works for SysDoc (another firm), but has been involved in the Telecom project for about 18 months.

I collaborate, e-collaborate, we collaborate

We often have different projects going on with partners. Moodle would be a good place to store all these projects. Besides that, it can also be a place where presentations or photographs of the launch of a project can be kept. I think that a tool should be developed to enable search options through these groups and make this knowledge publicly available; this could be done in combination with wikis or blogs. Camillo sees an opportunity here for projects.
