Microsoft released three overview videos of SharePoint 2010, for IT pros and developers. From the developer point of view, I think this version of SharePoint and Visual Studio are going to be a “game-changer” for the platform. From first glance the dev tools built in to the tools seem to be far advanced and take the developer into a more enhanced workspace that allows for WSP creation, new LINQ for SharePoint functionality, a Developer Dashboard, and a Silverlight Web Part.

Most exciting about the announcement is the release of an experimental API for developers to create their own Calendar features. SharePoint 2010. Details on SharePoint 2010 from Microsoft: - SharePoint 2010 is less about the technology capabilities and more about business applications. there is an invitation-only technical preview on offer. SharePoint 2010 gets the Office 2007 ribbon interface. It's 64-bit only. Live integration with Visio 2010 is being added.

The conference is being held at The Duxton Hotel, and there's 200-300 people here. There's about 30 people standing up at the back of the room. This is the biggest conference I've seen at the Duxton before. Governance. When I arrived, Joel was talking about governance in SharePoint.
