#fslt12 Week 0 – starts tomorrow – Monday 14 May

Jenny Connected

The course officially starts on 21 st May (and will run for 5 weeks until 22 nd June), so next week is a good time for anyone who is interested in following the course to have a look round our WordPress and Moodle sites and spend a bit of time setting yourself up and deciding where and how you want to participate. She describes the model we have decided on as being the ‘middle ground’.

My takeaways from OEB18: communities, AI and 3D-smarts and some very practical stuff

Joitske Hulsebosch

My thinking was sharpened, but I also took away really practical lessons for the things I am working on (like the idea to embed peergradio in Moodle for instance.) The reflection session had a nice BINGO model with numbers.

Various ways to use social media as a facilitator or trainer

Joitske Hulsebosch

A great model has been developed by Jane Hart: how to use social media in e-learningtrajectories: We believe you may also use this model to think about how to use social media in face-to-face learning trajectories. (1) Jane Hart warns us that you should use the first model with caution.

Cognition

Jenny Connected

In the course materials on Moodle, cognition is described as: The capacity to infer, or detect faulty inferences, to use communicative elements in order to describe, argue, explain or define. I am attending the course not only for the content on Critical Literacies, but also because I am interested in how open courses are designed and run. The discussion in Moodle about the evolving definition of ’expert’ generated quite a bit of interest.

#Change11- Half way point reflections

Jenny Connected

That very same group has now approached me to work with them on designing a course on MOOC principles. Well it’s time to take stock a bit – not the ideal time – with Xmas looming and everything that entails and needs thinking about – mostly food. Every year I cannot believe how much food is consumed. But how much of Change MOOC have I consumed and what are my tentative and first reflections at this point.
