IBM and Research In Motion announced new integration points between IBM's software and the RIM BlackBerry, including access to Lotus Symphony documents from the BlackBerry, IBM Lotus Quickr access from the BlackBerry, and extended support for IBM Connections by the BlackBerry. Alloy connects IBM Lotus Notes software with SAP Business Suite to get people to the core of their business. IBM announced LotusLive, a collection of hosted services for Lotus software.

IBM and SNAPP announced SnappFiles, an iPhone application for accessing files stored in Lotus Quickr and FileNet P8. " The first offering, SnappFiles, demonstrated by IBM at MacWorld in San Francisco last week, is a free app available on the Apple App Store that delivers secure access to and collaboration on corporate documents stored in IBM Lotus Quickr or Filenet P8 ECM systems. NGAD also is a reshaping of the programming model for Active Directory.

They were designed by different teams that did not necessarily take a "long view" of their individual projects. The MySite capability for user profiles existed in earlier releases but was designed as a personal site for file sharing - it was never designed to be a social networking component.

To-date, I have not been all that satisfied with the top-line messaging around Lotus Connections - I think it relied to much on the "expertise" card and was overly pitched to a CXO level audience. Unfortunately we have not seen the type of third-party portfolio of solutions emerge yet around Lotus Connections. Will IBM work with Facebook (as well as others such as LinkedIn and Xing for instance) to federate that platform with Lotus Connections?

Value networks priced the need flexibility to come beyond the tangible to model role based collaboration.    Patrick said we are moving beyond metrics to modeling. Patrick asked who does the modeling and Verna said it is the people who do they work, not outside experts.

Each with its own membership model -- no peeking in an eRoom where you werent invited! and we had driven that model about as far as it was going to go. The reason for the difference was that we introduced eRoom using a “controlled emergence model”, rather than an open emergence model.
