I can't help but think what they would think if we charged our time spent in using these systems back to the same accounts that show the cost saving! As they write, if you focus on the cost side there is only so much you can squeeze out. When done right it did also result in cost savings or increased revenue or both. As customers harness the tools of the Web to gain more information about products and vendors, they are putting increasing pressure on these vendors to deliver more value at lower cost. Doing it at cost. I know of several events that are run on a cost-recovery basis but how can we make this as interesting as possible? It used to be really tricky & expensive to find people. Finding speakers. Finding venues. Finding attendees. You needed contacts & experience & these were high barriers to entry. It's still hard to put on an event but the economics have changed.

It Costs Too Much. My brain costs money to maintain. There’s training, classes to attend, reading (I have to buy books), gaining certifications, costs of memberships so I can network, attending conferences and mastering my skills that all cost me money. And in neither case were any of the free loaders at the store, or in Vietnam or Iraq asking if they could pick up the costs for the gear or experience. Business. Autos. Energy.
