Collaborative Thinking: Integrating SharePoint And Confluence

Collaborative Thinking

While Confluence is popular, customers should be able to integrate other blog and wiki vendors as well(e.g., SharePoint Connector for Confluence - How We Did It A few months ago, we and Atlassian announced their SharePoint Connector for Confluence, which impressed both customers and analysts.

Governance in a Networked World

In fact it should not be a competition, but a confluence of the formal and informal, if successful transformation is to be achieved. This is actually reinforced by the digital channels of email and instant messaging and likely file share systems like Sharepoint as well. Really?

Collaborative Thinking: Lotusphere 2008: What Ill Be Looking For

Collaborative Thinking

To-date, I have not been all that satisfied with the top-line messaging around Lotus Connections - I think it relied to much on the "expertise" card and was overly pitched to a CXO level audience. vendors become part of a broader Connections platform environment - wouldnt it be great to have Moveable Type of WordPress as blogging options - or to have Confluence or Socialtext as wiki options - or to have Attensa, KnowNow or NewsGator as feed syndication platform options?

Socialtext , NewsGator and Atlassian ( Confluence wiki ) are examples. Our development team would love to provide OOB hooks into SharePoint for Lotus Connections (a customer request we'd be happy to meet), but want to do it using your REST API, the way we've done it with Confluence, SocialText, and our own stuff.

More collaboration

John Tropea - Delicious Collaboration

Engineers without Fears Saturday, September 15, 2007 More collaboration James Dellow takes up the conversation about collaboration. James D makes the point that collaboration happens within organisations & that people will use any tools that come to hand. Absolutely agree with this. James goes on to say: This cycle by the way is taking place at an enterprise level, but also at the level of individual workgroups, teams and projects.

Collaboration vs sharing

John Tropea - Delicious Collaboration

Engineers without Fears Sunday, October 14, 2007 Collaboration vs sharing James Robertson talks about collaboration tools as anti-knowledge sharing. If I understand JR correctly, his point is that collaboration tools are great for specific teams. However each team works in its own context and this leads to the creation of silos which prevents cross-organisational leveraging of this material. He also notes that this cannot be solved simply by the implementation of a search tool. I agree with him.

Unified messaging. There is a lot of interest right now in replicating the success of micro-messaging systems such as Twitter within the enterprise.
