Designing for Mobile Collaboration

Portals and KM

Mobile collaboration is an increasingly important topic as two-thirds of the information workforce already work remotely, according to Forrester data. The new Forrester Wave™: Mobile Collaboration, Q3 2011 by Ted Schadler for Content & Collaboration Professionals offers some useful advice on how mobile collaboration requires a new app approach. I have noticed that even most small vacation inns have free wifi as a standard offering.

cloudhead - Cooperation vs Collaboration

John Tropea - Delicious Collaboration

cloudhead by @ shiftctrlesc Cooperation vs Collaboration We often use these words interchangeably, but they represent fundamentally different ways of contributing to a group and each comes with its own dynamics and power structures that shape groups in different ways … When collaborating, people work together (co-labor) on a single shared goal. If an orchestra is the sound of collaboration, then a drum circle is the sound of cooperation.

How Do I Make Sense of Social Networking Tools

In fact, any business tool that aims to improve both the way we communicate AND collaborate AND kill email in the process will always have my full attention. Ohhh, and when I am online Twitter becomes my living, rather dynamic, and collaboratively filtered RSS newsfeed.

We were all in a small room, rather cosy, very well prepared, but alas with no Internet access, no wifi, not even our very own 3G connections from our mobile devices; something along the lines of a locked up room with no external exposure other than the air from the outside.

Putting social tech two clicks down

Social Reporter

One of the recurrent bits of conversation around the social media scene is “of course, it’s not about the tools, it’s about people … how they share … changes in culture … challenges to hierarchies&# often followed by “and have you seen this latest iPhone app “ To be fair, there isn’t a total contradiction in that, because smartphones often help us converse, connect, collaborate without a lot of the desktop computer hassle.
