While cloud computing continues to increase it is interesting, but not surprising, that more firms are choosing private clouds than public ones. As reported in ComputerWorldUK , Gartner surveyed 1,587 CIOs and other senior IT decision makers about general IT spending trends, with 484 respondents providing answers relating to questions on cloud computing. This later trends shows the flexibility of the cloud and a desire to combine utility with security.

Microsoft unveiled pricing for Azure , its cloud computing platform. SharePoint 2010. Details on SharePoint 2010 from Microsoft: - SharePoint 2010 is less about the technology capabilities and more about business applications. there is an invitation-only technical preview on offer. SharePoint 2010 gets the Office 2007 ribbon interface. It's 64-bit only. Live integration with Visio 2010 is being added. SharePoint Workspace (previously Groove) deals with more than just document library sync.

Many firms are still grappling with wave 1, and are confounding themselves with tautologies like the “private cloud” It doesn’t matter if your cloud is Public, Private or Pink. In summary, cloud/collaboration tools/technologies alone will not help to transform an organization into a social enterprise.
