using Australian Vodafone iPhone in Singapore

Laurel Papworth- Social Network Strategy

Being a cheap kinda gal, I thought I’d blog some key points of setting up my Vodafone iPhone on free wifi and using services in Singapore. I thought I’d blog this cos I can never find it on telco sites. SETTINGS If you go for free wifi – and why not?

#KM4Dev – blogging session

Pretty unexpectedly I ended up doing a session on blogging at #KM4Dev workshop. It didn’t really work that way: we drifted away from blogging as social reporting tool (I’m not surprised, but that’s a topic for another post) and couldn’t practice as some other groups since wifi didn’t want to collaborate. But we had great discussions on how to make blogging work and the potentials of blogging as a KM tool. Why blogging?

#Movistar Killed the Web Star

Yes, I do, but that’s not been very helpful, either, as I currently have got a 6GB quota allowance per month that, given the kind of work I do, I pretty much basically burn it all out in about 2 to 3 days and, once again, here I am, back to stealing friends’ wifi connections at their own homes.

Some Online Work Goes Mobile or Is It Mostly Personal?

Portals and KM

With the rise of tablet and smart phone use, PCs are losing dominance as the major online device despite the ever increasing availability of wifi for PCs. I see that writing blog posts and composing other documents are not on the list. For example, I am sitting in the San Francisco airport writing this post and still find my Macbook to be a better device for doing online work, especially when it involves typing like this post and having multiple screens open to support the effort.

Having a dedicated device with a long battery life that allows me to read books, newspapers and blogs sounds great. I can imagine using it first thing in the morning to read the headlines and some stories from my favourite newspaper and several blogs that I follow.
