A lot of what I discovered in my social theory education enlightened me about the degree to which we are programmed by our environments, culture, and institutions, and especially by the media. The value of social media in this realm is that it’s lowers the initial step on to the ladder so that many more people can begin climbing, therein lies the opportunity down the line to have a larger number of people significantly engaged.
