Jive Engage Platform: Collaboration Inside and Outside of the Enterprise

Michael Sampson - Currents

This morning I spent a few hours trawling around the Jive Software web site , getting an update on current thinking and approaches coming out of Jive. A few notes: Jive's main product used to be called "Social Business Software," but it looks like that name has been dumped in favor of "Jive Engage Platform." The bi-directional integration between Jive and SharePoint looks clean. From within SharePoint, users can access documents and assets stored in Jive.

Jive Wants to Be a Top Player. Jive Software is doing a lot of things right, in my opinion: Leveraging the strength of others to stay in the game. Eg, three key moves announced this week: A strategic alliance with CSC where CSC will sell Jive's software. A placement of Jive's software in the Google Apps Marketplace -- broadening its reach, making it easier for organizations to start. Jive's new integration with Twitter bolsters its Market Engagement solution.

Enterprise social tools, such as Yammer, Jive, or IBM Connections, provide ways of expanding your network within your organization.
