Enterprise Collaboration Architecture from Cisco that Goes Beyond Technology

Portals and KM

Cisco provides a Collaboration Services Group that is not tied to Cisco products but helps clients with a vendor independent approach. IBM Connections Conversations - 3: Analytics + Social

What is exciting here is the integration of social capabilities and analytics. The overall sense I take away from the event is that IBM has wanted to (a) continue casting a vision of the future of social business, and various other trends, as well as (b) introducing everyone to customers who are making it work now. Re-Thinking Follow Models Within The Enterprise

Collaborative Thinking

Current enterprise social networking trends favor the asymmetric approach. The asymmetric nature Twitter approach has been generally accepted as the better practice. If someone you follow updates their status, shares a link or file, “retweets”/replies to a post, then those updates become visible to all followers – if all parties are using the same social network site or application (with some brute-force integration exceptions).

There was some discussion with audience members around integrating different parts a law firms to make a unified whole. The integration of KM and BD is critical because clients want to see a demonstration of expertise before signing up with a particular law firm. However, most of these initiatives were not integrated. The key trend, in Stuart's view, is the convergence of these different areas (dealrooms, relationship management, collaboration, etc.)
