John Tropea - Delicious Collaboration

Gettin Wiki With It One of our more massively complex systems is about to get a major upgrade - and I mean major - this version has been in development for most of this year. Weve been doing a root-and-branch upgrade of the integration between two coupled systems - migrating blog platforms from a third-party package to in-house code, creating a single sign on across all sites, etc etc etc. I would thoroughly recommend Gettin Wiki With It.

I think the fact that the wiki and blogging tools are fairly basic is a good thing. I will probably turn off the wiki stuff at first and just go with blgos and discussions. I need to better understand how Share and the main Alfresco Explorer tool are integrated because we heavily use the document management tools in Alfresco Explorer. An upcoming edition of NetNewsWire (RSS reader for Mac) will include ads , or there will be an annual fee to be ad-less.

I have lots of criticisms of SP re: blogs (poor), wikis (worse), profiles (mediocre). - Locking your data up in some wiki that has no data architecture, no services interface, no meta model and meta data model. sounds like a problem too - wikis that cannot manage attachments - wikis that rely on proprietary markup. The 2007 release was arguably the first concerted effort to deliver an integrated platform, adding additional components along the way.
