Collaborative Thinking

My opinion is that there is no single right approach, no single best strategy that you can simply apply from one situation to the next. A top-down approach enables project teams to leverage management as champions. The difference between a bottom-up and viral approach (to me at least) is that bottom-up is a designed intent. The hope is that certain individuals will acts as catalysts for others to join, creating network effects that lead to more rapid uptake. .

Social Reporter

One of the catalysts to organising in any locality is a threat or other challenge to life as usual: it may be redevelopment, closure of services, community safety. The likely result of the current approach is that the Knowledge Hub will just close, or drift into some further iteration that will be less satisfactory than the current setup. However, as Carl says, hard times may require a change of approach.

The above list suggests to me that there may be another, 'through' approach in addition to the 'around' approach that Moss advocates.
