Adding Social Context To Enterprise Architecture

Collaborative Thinking

But still, WOA is service oriented architecture applied on a global scale: “If you look at the fundamental approaches and really what they’re trying to accomplish, they’re really both innate SOA and WOA,&# Dave said.

In this talk, Peter Morville defines a pattern language for search and discovery that embraces user psychology and behavior, cross-channel information architecture, multisensory interaction, and emerging technology. Peter said that as he encounters intranets he often sees strange architecture with components simply added on in a random pattern. What we find changes our approach if we are sensitive to our discoveries.  There is a lot of cross media integration.

There were high hopes in 2009 that it would integrate with other social media, and also enable conversations with wider publics. Reality Check 2.0

This emphasis on a realistic approach towards solutions driven by social software should not be an excuse for IT organizations to protect vendors they are comfortable with - this crisis could easily become a situation where IT groups leverage "cost reduction", "infrastructure overlap", and "integration complexity" as excuses to get rid of smaller vendors and retreat into comfort zones with platforms they identify with to a greater degree than the business areas they support.
