Of these companies, the top 10 corporations (Wal-Mart, Exxon, Chevron, Conoco Philips, Fannie Mae, General Electric, Berkshire Hathaway, General Motors, Bank of America Corp.

Here is a great visualization effort by the Flowing Data people. You can see how Walmart, like kudzu on the left , spread across the US South. It started in 1964 and first invaded the South.
