A video harvest…forever grateful!

It’s a challenge to prepare, be the trainer on site and capture what is happening in the room for sharing. Early on, my co-conspirator Nancy White and I found it helpful to have a social reporter.

Reflections on PGviz18

Michelle Laurie

I am inspired. Icon jam with the word feathers. Sometimes a workshop or meeting leaves me feeling better than when I walked in the room and this happened recently at PGviz18 in Prince George. From the moment I set-up to the time I finished, I knew hosting this workshop was one of my best decisions.

Great meeting and art? Try Graphic Facilitation

Lovely facilitator drawing by Nancy White, graphic facilitator extraordinaire. I recently read an article that states, “ a new Drexel University study found that making art can significantly reduce stress-related hormones in your body.” ” And apparently everyone can benefit!

Meeting intros…beyond the go around.

Michelle Laurie

A few weeks ago, I got a request from someone new to facilitation asking about a great way to do introductions at a meeting. I have a lot of icebreakers up my sleeve but I was testing out something new at another meeting and had been given some ideas from an online group too.

Blogging as Reflective Practice on this Sunny Monday Morning

Michelle Laurie

I started this blog in 2007 as a way to keep in touch with a remote team while working in the field in West Africa. Over the years, I have found it very useful to reflect on my work, reflect on my learning and share interesting things that I’ve come across with the blogosphere.

Planning an update, stay tuned!

Michelle Laurie

The year has flown by and I have been neglectful in writing, reflecting and sharing online. However, lots of interesting work has taken place, and shamefully I got caught up in the busy frenzy. On the positive, I was spending more time with people face to face and less time on my computer. Now its time to take a deep breath, consider some of the highlights and articulate these thoughts through my blog.

A few months ago, the KM4Dev Journal put a call out for contributions linking Knowledge Management and Climate Change Adaptation. Given these are two of my most passionate areas of work, I could not resist. I wrote a short story: Lessons on bridging knowledge management with climate change adaptation: a story from southeastern British Columbia, Canada. My goal was to explain some of the jargon and get down to the basics. You can read about it here: [link]. Comments welcome!
