Jenny Connected

‘Meaning’ has also featured prominently in May for me, i.e. meaning in relation to what I have been doing and the meaning of my life as it relates to those around me. I have committed to writing a monthly blog post this year, rather like those who commit to posting a photo a day.

The course officially starts on 21 st May (and will run for 5 weeks until 22 nd June), so next week is a good time for anyone who is interested in following the course to have a look round our WordPress and Moodle sites and spend a bit of time setting yourself up and deciding where and how you want to participate. These sites are still being developed, so there may be some last minute changes next week.

My Favorite Tweets for May 1 - 14 2011

Portals and KM

Here is another in a series of posts that provide access to my favorite tweets that contain links to useful information.    Some of these I did to link to things I found useful and others are RTs that I want to save for the same reason. Since Twitter archiving is an oxymoron, I am now going to post my favorite links for the month so they can be easily accessed later. I spot tested the reduced shortened urls and they all should work. I hope this is also useful for you.

BIG’s People Powered Change may catalyse a more bottom-up big society

Social Reporter

With the launch this week of People Powered Change , the Big Lottery sets out its plans for a distinctive niche in the Big Society agenda , supporting local bottom-up community projects. My interest in Friday’s launch in Salford has so far centred on funding for the York Square Mile digital platform. This aims at developing “8000 local democracies&# for community-based action through a mix of advice, signposts to funding, local web sites and benefits for anyone who joins the mutual.

Introducting social media in organisations to improve the learning function is more difficult than you may think.

Joitske Hulsebosch

One of the lessons may be that management support is not enough, there needs to be space in the organisation to give priority to this way of working. If a restructuring or resizing is more important it may not be the right time. They may interpret it as 'I have to use a wiki instead of a word document'.

Beware: BYOA May Rival BYOD as IT Issue

Portals and KM

Well, I think the complementary to that may be just as big.
