Tinkering with the system won’t help reinvent the purpose of education

Jenny Connected

I am recently retired, so a bit out of the loop, but from my perspective not a lot has changed between 2006 and 2019, in the sense that education has not been ‘reinvented’ – notably there hasn’t been, at government and policy-making level, a change in philosophy.

Truth in Education

Good science is always aware of its limitations, but science cannot discover the purpose of life nor tell us about God’s nature or existence and science promotes the use of models.

Mapping the social innovation ecosystems around public libraries together: the Czech connection(s)

Making CommunitySense

To this purpose, we held an initial meeting to do a quickscan of the existing Brno collaboration ecosystem, using the # Brno2050 city themes as a starting point. Public libraries are cornerstones of civil society.

Archeology and legitimate peripheral participation

I had to figure out the purpose of the activity on the spot and it became “let’s see what we can understand about the work that people do in this room” and then figure out how it relates to a bigger whole of archeology. In October I went with the kids to join as volunteers for recent excavation in Katwijk. Yesterday there was a follow-up opportunity to join the team, this time to help with identification the findings.

Simpler, Yet

How to Save the World

O ur brains, crazy patterning devices that they are, are constantly trying to see patterns — connections, causes, continuities, reasons, purposes, justifications — for everything they perceive. There actually aren’t any, but that doesn’t stop the brain. It has t o try to know, and there is something about the aha! that comes with seeing a new pattern that makes sense of what previously didn’t, that makes the self just jump all over it.

Curious About Radical Non-Duality But Hate Videos?

How to Save the World

T he essential message of radical non-duality, as opposed to more historical types of non-duality, is that there is no ‘you’ — no separate person or thing, no self, no ‘awareness’ or ‘consciousness’ or ‘enlightenment’ or liberation, no self-control or choice or volition or agency or responsibility, no time or space, no life or death, no path or process to get closer to the ‘truth’, no knowledge or experience, no meaning or purpose.
