I was honored to serve as a judge for the Mobile World Congress 2011 16th annual Global Mobile Awards in the category of Best mLearning Innovation. This is the first time that mobile learning has been recognized. The winner was Urban Planet Mobile from Savannah, Georgia, for their mobile English learning initiative.

The rise of mobile communications is one of the major game changes in technology.    The amount of time spent on mobile apps has surpassed web browsing on a computer. billion mobile subscribers (77% of the world population) and mobile devices have overtaken computers on Wi-Fi networks. Given these numbers, how are enterprise IT departments supporting their mobile users? I would guess that over 90% of these workers own some type of mobile phone.

Forrester: Mobile Apps Will Change the IT Market and Drive Software Innovation

Forrester has issued a new report, Mobile App Internet Recasts The Software And Services Landscape: App Innovation On Phones Will Spread To Cars, Appliances And Entertainment by John C. According to their survey of over 2,100 North American and European software decision-makers, 41 percent say that increasing the number of mobile apps for both employees and customers was a high or critical software priority.
