It is hard to believe we finished “ Digital Habitat: Stewarding technology for communities ” back in 2009 (after working on it off and on for 5 years). Seven years later the book is still selling on Amazon. Electronic versions are available in Zipped files here: For Amazon’s Kindle reader (.mobi). And we hear that people still actually use it, even though the whole technology ecology has changed so much. .

Open Text Acquires Vignette. Open Text announced a definitive agreement to acquire Vignette, a content management vendor. Amazon updated its Kindle for iPhone application. Ozzie on the Shift to Cloud Computing. Ray Ozzie recommends that firms get first-hand experience with cloud-based services, by moving email and collaboration there. Speaking at a JP Morgan event in Boston, Ozzie said that enterprises still don't trust that they will be provided with the high service levels they would need to move applications onto large networks run by a small number of vendors.

I love Amazon. But I’ve been waiting for this particular shoe to drop: This morning, hundreds of Amazon Kindle owners awoke to discover that books by a certain famous author had mysteriously disappeared from their e-book readers. But no, apparently the publisher changed its mind about offering an electronic edition, and apparently Amazon, whose business lives and dies by publisher happiness, caved. And I love my Kindle.

Both books now sit proudly together on the Amazon site [link] showing publications dates just 7 days apart, making me look a far more prolific a writer than I really am. But you can't tell that on Amazon :) One can't help but think that there has to be a middle ground and I think it will be through the use of social media. It will probably never happen again (at least for me) but having never published a book before I had two books hit the market in the same month!
