This represents the opening moves in a chess match between IBM anbd Microsoft that will evolve over the next two years. IBM is taking it on the chin right now re: SharePoint. IBM also needs to deliver updates to Connections quickly - remember, IBM has a two year window approx.

Why I Fired Myself from IBM

Elsua

Most people may not know this, but back in June 2005, while I was still an IBM Netherlands employee, I got laid off and after having received the well-known compensation package I decided that I wasn’t ready, just yet, to leave the company. So was it then my time, beginning of 2014, when I decided to quit IBM and move on? So, while we were talking, he asked me why I made the decision of leaving IBM after everything I have (helped) build over the course of time.

Even More Research on the Use of Social Software in the Workplace from IBM

Portals and KM

I recently wrote about More IBM Research on Enterprise 2.0 – Activities and Other Tools. It focused on their Beehive social networking website behind IBM’s firewall. Beehive was launched in 2007 by IBM Research as “an internal social network site for IBM employees designed to blur the boundaries of work and home, professional and personal, and business and fun.” IBM Research is looking at four main areas: understanding adoption, usage patterns, motivations, and impact.

7 Pillars Analysis of IBM

Michael Sampson - Currents

I was on a call tonight with a client, and among other topics, we talked about the business and user adoption challenge of having the latest and greatest collaboration and communication technology from IBM. He described what he was facing, and it made me recall a couple of paragraphs that I wrote in December 2008 on the same topic. Saba Social Left Out Of IBM Deal

Collaborative Thinking

IBM partners with a well-known human capital management vendor that has a strong offering in the LMS/e-Learning space. The Saba partnership provides IBM with a few things: It allows IBM to exist this business and provide existing Lotus Learning customers a migration path (to Saba). It allows IBM to sell Saba's learning solution directly (augmenting the value proposition of WebSphere Portal via a learning accelerator). IBM and Saba have worked together for years.
