The authors suggest that the world is governed by what they call "three degrees of influence" — that is, your friends friends friend, most likely someone you dont even know — who indirectly influences your actions and emotions. The study of 1,178 adults ages 25 to 74 is based on data collected at the Center for the Digital Future at the University of Southern California in 2002 and 2007.
