Ever since I organised the “ Drupal for Doughnuts ” gathering during social media week back in January, all I seem to hear about is Drupal .
Here at FreshNetworks we have always believed in the power of Drupal, which is why we’ve chosen to use it as our social media software platform.
Now I’ve heard, time and again, from our Tech team about why Drupal is the best choice Drupal, Drupal, Drupal. At our nfp and membership breakfast seminar a few weeks ago, Bertie Bosredon from Breast Cancer Care was talking about the benefits of Drupal

Last year, Forum One recognized that one of the key issues community and social media professionals face is that we (as an industry) are suffering from a lack of solid benchmarks, including compensation of online community and social media professionals. Sony crowd-sources name for new online community
Sony this week launched a beta version of it’s new online community this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The site combines company blogs with videos, photos and polls as well as allowing users to create profiles; it’s a site for users to engage with Sony as a brand and as a company. They’re using the site at the Show both to report on product launches but also to allow people to engage with their bloggers and content. As is traditional at this time of year, we’ve been looking back over 2009 and all the enormous leaps of innovation and learning that have happened in the social media space. Vincent Boon , Community Team Leader at Sony Computer Entertainment agrees thinks roles and responsibilities will become more targeted and defined: “The role itself will become less broad, with community managers trying to cover all the bases, but instead companies will employ different community managers, for their different areas of communication.”

The social web provides tremendous value for all of us to evaluate products and services (prior to purchase). if you are an employee of Sony and find this post, it can be very tempting to spout off all the great tech features and offers on Sony TVs. This is dangerous for the studios, especially those who don’t have an effective social media marketing strategy. They can then use social media, and traditional marketing and PR activities, to amplify the positive word of mouth and also to help to minimise the impact of the negative.
