At SXSWi, I was expecting to be sold the shiny digital future, but what I found was something stranger and unsettling, somewhere fragmented, confused. Is the web getting a bit existential?

In our “Participating int he Social Media Ecosystem” research project from January of 2010, we saw that only about 1/2 (56%) of the participants had a comprehensive social strategy in place – meaning, only 1/2 of the organizations had spent time assessing and researching where their community currently was, and the opportunities for on and off domain engagement.

Collanos Collanos is a free tool for project management. It integrates all communication you can have within a project, so documents, discussions, notes, etc. It also allows for creating different project teams and you can assign tasks and deadlines to the team members. Agriterra's project management tool Agro-info.net So, instead of e-mailing to and fro or having to find documentation in several places, you can collect it all within this tool. I’ve managed a lot of projects. As the science of project management evolves, we are clearly learning that managing based on guess work is a recipe for consistent failure. Traditionally, we managed projects based on the trusted opinion of a project manager who estimated the length, scope, cost, and resources required for a project. Project management and community work
That will usually be managed as a project. And project management has a tendency to rely on clearly defined phases, tasks, deadlines, deliverables, and (especially) responsibilities. That will serve us early in the project when we’re dealing with the organization… but as soon as we have a community core, and want it to evolve ideas or test services, out goes most planification. Almost in-vitro CoPs. And I don’t mean CoPs for reproductive health .
