I had difficulty stopping their game to continue the workshop with them! What it hasn’t done is to supersede the fundamentals of KM – the value of conversation, the importance of learning and reflection, the power of communities of practice, the need to both summarise and provide stories to preserve context.  A sneak preview of my up-coming column in the next edition of Inside Knowledge … During my childhood, I wiled away many an hour with school friends and a pack of Top Trumps cards.

It surely promises to be a rather interesting one, since I’ll be moderating a discussion where I will be sharing some of the various good practices we have been putting in place to help IBM accelerate its own adoption of these social tools; I am sure the interactions and conversations from those folks attending such session will also be rather insightful, as I’m certainly hoping they will be adding their two cents of how their own organisations are tackling the important topic of adoption of social computing (Both inside and outside their firewall(s)). Since there seems to be an interest to better understand what facilitating a learning community from a communities of practic theory means we decided to document our actions, observations and reflections in a wiki. We used those meticulous observations to describe our way of facilitating this learning communities.
As part of CPSquare’s “ Connected Futures ” workshop exploring the use of web technologies in the service of communities of practice, we (John Smith and I!)
