Excerpt from an analysis of the Obama approach by Naomi Klein :
“Obama has gone much further, turning the White House into a kind of never-ending reality show starring the lovable Obama clan. The problem is not that Obama is using the same tricks and tools as the superbrands; anyone wanting to move the culture these days pretty much has to do that. This too can be traced to the mid-90s branding craze, when marketers grew tired of the limitations of traditional advertising and began creating three-dimensional “experiences” – branded temples where shoppers could crawl inside the personality of their favourite brands.

Obama launched last year a $787bn fiscal stimulus, which includes tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits and increased spending in education, health care, infrastructure and the energy sector; European Greece is condemned to fiscal starvation. If the creditors are not really interested in repayment but are using the debt as a tool to exploit the debtor country and strip it of its assets, the creditors’ bluff needs to be called.
Below is a first excerpt from a very important, crucial editorial by Costas Douzinas in the Guardian, which calls for resistance against EU/IMF imposed policies which have already a record of destroying many economies.

Both major parties were obviously inspired by Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Twitter didn’t feature in Obama’s campaign but has quickly become Labour’s mode of choice. 8220;We are providing the tools so that people are able to mobilise of their own accord,” one Labour insider told me. Will Straw reports about developments in the UK , and how they challenge the old party structures:
“While the digital world that we live in has its downsides, it has provided an exciting new arena for exchange of information between the government and the governed, or between one activist and another.

L et’s face it, the Obama Presidential campaign was one of the most successful social media marketing efforts in the history of the internet. can count on my fingers the number of major US companies that understand new media the way the Obama campaign did.
(Incidentally, Incidentally, how long do you think it will take Firefox to put “Obama” in their spell-check dictionary?)
I This is really not that surprising, given the involvement of people like Chris Hughes , one of the founding fathers of Facebook, as Obama’s online organizing coordinator.

In a similar way the same can be said about Obama and how he used internet to organize volunteers, raise funds, and communicate with voters to gain an edge in the campaign.
The use of new social networking software gave so great results to President Obama and his advisers that they are going to continue to use them from the oval office.
Every morning, Obama will receive a briefing from the ideas and Last presidential campaign, as you heard a thousand times, was historic in many fronts. In terms of the use of technology was historic too.

Last week, after all the hubbub about congressional representatives Twittering during President Obama’s NSOTU address, my mom asked me, “What is Twitter ?” Facebook has been around FOREVER, but you just heard about it after the election, because the news was talking about how Obama used it to win the election. So the reason you were hearing about Facebook really had nothing to do with Facebook, and everything to do My mom (known around here as Grandma Rose) is going to be 85 this spring. Grandma Rose uses the Internet like crazy - checking email, using Wikipedia, and especially

The Washington Post asks how Obama can transform his net-based electoral strength, into a policy and advocacy tool that will strengthen his presidency?
( An interesting passage:
“In past years, such lists were considered useful tools for political campaigns but not particularly helpful for governing. But Peter Greenberger, manager of political advertising for Google, said such information could here are also a number of videos on the topic )
The White House could “geo-target” ads so they appear online in congressional districts where members remain

Engineers without Fears Tuesday, September 11, 2007 Collaboration tools James Robertson has been thinking about collaboration tools. So here are the phases and my responses to them: Phase 0: Fragmentation As the usage of collaboration tools grows in an unmanaged and unconsidered way, so does the "fragmentation" of information. Phase 1: Gardening The starting point is to identify Which is interesting because I have as well. As ever, James is practical & clear in his thinking and suggests a 5 phase model (0-4) for organisations thinking about collaboration.

Last week at the InterAction Forum I had the pleasure of hearing Sam Graham-Felson , former director of blogging for the Obama Campaign talk about their strategy and success. Use tools like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter to push out very personalized messages, to encourage them to take an action. (The They helped explain Obama's 10 major policy positions by breaking them into Blueprint for Change Lots of what Sam talked about can be translated into useful tactics for small and large organizations who are building communities of people who care about their issues. First,

have followed the campaigns of Obama and McCain filtered through the Dutch news. But it's a nice opportunity to find out more about how Obama leveraged the social media- I have heard it was a great campaign and his team made good use of the media in general and social media in particular. I'm a fan of Obama (like 90% of the Dutch I believe!), The netsquared thinktank question is this time: ' What was the best example or lesson learned about leveraging social media from the political campaigns this year?' At first, I didn't feel like responding. I
