P2P production can overcome the problem of the absence of social approval for energy investments by local societies, a result of the justified distrust with which the plans of the would-be “green energy squires” are treated. This article by George Papanikolaou appeared in a special issue of the Greek bi-lingual Re-Public magazine, Issue on P2P Energy, 2009

Excerpt from an analysis of the Obama approach by Naomi Klein : “Obama has gone much further, turning the White House into a kind of never-ending reality show starring the lovable Obama clan. The Best from the Communities and Networks Connection Community

L et’s face it, the Obama Presidential campaign was one of the most successful social media marketing efforts in the history of the internet. can count on my fingers the number of major US companies that understand new media the way the Obama campaign did. (Incidentally, Incidentally, how long do you think it will take Firefox to put “Obama” in their spell-check dictionary?) I This is really not that surprising, given the involvement of people like Chris Hughes , one of the founding fathers of Facebook, as Obama’s online organizing coordinator.
In a similar way the same can be said about Obama and how he used internet to organize volunteers, raise funds, and communicate with voters to gain an edge in the campaign. The main factor to use internet so powerfully has been the growing possibilities of social networking technologies and their massive reception. The use of new social networking software gave so great results to President Obama and Last presidential campaign, as you heard a thousand times, was historic in many fronts. In terms of the use of technology was historic too.

The netsquared thinktank question is this time: ' What was the best example or lesson learned about leveraging social media from the political campaigns this year?' At first, I didn't feel like responding. have followed the campaigns of Obama and McCain filtered through the Dutch news. But it's a nice opportunity to find out more about how Obama leveraged the social I I'm a fan of Obama (like 90% of the Dutch I believe!),
There has been a lot of talk over the last year of Obama’s election as the first social media election . And it is certainly true that there is much we can all learn from how Obama used social media as a candidate during the election process. But over the last couple of days we’ve seen another use of social media in elections - reporting on the fallout from the election results in Iran. Image by youngrobv (Rob & Ale) via Flickr The presidential election in Iran was held on the 12th June, between incumbent Ahmadinejad and rival Mousavi.

Last week at the InterAction Forum I had the pleasure of hearing Sam Graham-Felson , former director of blogging for the Obama Campaign talk about their strategy and success.  They employed about 80 staffers on the new media department, focusing on online content, outreach, and social networking.  also a firm believer that every organization, no matter how small, should have a full-time social Lots of what Sam talked about can be translated into useful tactics for small and large organizations who are building communities of people who care about their issues. First, let me
