Every so often there are those times when you bump into a couple of articles published by people, who you know and respect dearly for the tremendous amount of great work they have done in the space of Social Computing, that give you such an adrenaline rush, while reading through them, that you just can’t stop thinking about anything else for a little while. And if those blog posts have got to do with two of my favourite topics from all along ( People and Trust ) in that context of the Social Enterprise , you know I will surely be sharing my two cents of the conversation.

Next week Tuesday and Thursday, 9th and 11th of March, I will be in both Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, presenting a couple of times per event on the topic of the Social Enterprise (What else, right? But not just collaboration for the shake of collaboration alone; more along the lines of Social Collaboration (i.e. The Social Enterprise ) and Smart Yes, indeed, it is that time of the year where very soon I will be on the road again for my second and third business trips of the year and already working towards finalising the last few details, before I embark on the not-to-be-missed and always interesting Lotusphere Comes To You events.

is more about how social software is used by people vs. what the social tool actually is. does not address all patterns of communication, information sharing, cooperation, collaboration, community-building, and social networking. It is not new - although there are new possibilities of integrating social tools into business applications - still, the definition and intent has been around for A partial list of points-to-ponder:

Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) is a disappointing platform for social computing in my opinion. My position for some time has been that the next release will be a tipping point for Microsoft's social computing efforts. Either Microsoft "gets it right" and delivers a forward-looking release with significant improvements that transforms SharePoint into a market-leading social computing platform, or it delivers a release that has only incremental improvements to existing Rather than list off a "top ten" list of predictions for 2009, I thought I would briefly layout some topics and areas that business and IT decision-makers should pay attention to when formulating Enterprise 2.0

were a product check-list, life would be so easy, unfortunately it's not...
- "emergent use of social software" - gets to how social software is used, not so much what it is
- But if I open that blog up to comments, feeds etc - then I setup the emergent use - the derivative network effect can be E2.0-like
- The MySite capability for user profiles Thomas Vanderwal posted an article on Microsoft SharePoint 2007 that has caught traction on other blogs ( Sharepoint as a Gateway Drug to Greater Efficiency... ) and on Twitter.

Perhaps, in a follow-up blog post I will talk a little bit about which social networking sites have now been become part of my recently created and ongoing " black list ". So I guess I will start putting together a table with those networking sites that, in my opinion, would need to get their act together, before I would come back to them.
Most of you know how I have been Now that I have gotten off my chest that reflection on something I have been meaning to write about for a while now, I think it is time to move into the next one. Facebook, LinkedIn and Slideshare

Many folks have been questioning the relevance and importance of social computing within the enterprise. Corporate social networking is just as essential as any other business process, knowledge sharing or collaborative tool available out there to help improve the productivity of your knowledge workers.
am one of those folks who thinks along those lines of the latter commentary, having been exposed to corporate social software tools behind the firewall as early After the wonderful Lotusphere Comes to You 2009 events (in both Madrid & Barcelona) from last week and after taking a couple of days off to enjoy thoroughly both cities, it is time to return back home and, with that, back into my usual and regular blogging activities.
