Even though we may be a sprawling federation of tribes with many different identities and customs — hackers, Wikipedians, mashup artists, bloggers, open-access publishers, and so on — we share a history and ideals. The tech magazines will tell you that freedom is all about more RAM, or a faster chip, or augmented-reality software, or an iPhone. These remarks were given by David Bollier at the Free Culture Forum in Barcelona, Spain, on October 30. It was a well written and rousing speech which is well worth rereading.
