I’m not a hundred percent sure what @anywhere offers that current widgets don’t already offer – a Twitter created widget rather than a 3rd party developer widget created from the Twitter API. For example click on Get Widget below and code] <script type="text/javascript" src="[link] (WIDGETBOX) WIDGETBOX.renderWidget('51997582-ea6c-423d-94c4-42f6280c8475');</script><noscript>Get Twitter just announced @anywhere platform – notice who is missing? There’s a good chance that he’ll be on LinkedIn and have more than 500 connections there. I hesitate to write an article about choosing a social media consultant because of concerns about bias and my obvious conflict of interests. The Best from the Communities and Networks Connection Community

Somewhere during the discussion, I wondered aloud how OpenSocial should be compared/contrasted and put into perspective within the enterprise as the most viable widget/gadget effort around. The language about the "friend" representation the standard covered the symmetrical relationships that are common in consumer applications such as FaceBook and MySpace, and business applications that deal with loose ties, such as LinkedIn. During the Enterprise 2.0 event in Boston last year, I moderated a discussion between IBM and Oracle on the topic of portals and its relation to Enterprise 2.0.
What is a widget? According to wikipedia a widget is a third party item that can be embedded in a web page. Widgets are, hence, little blocks of information which can be added to a blog, mostly in the sidebar. Widgets update information, they are not static. This is a joint post together with Christian Kreutz , which we co-created in a google doc . (mine mine is a little longer though) 1.
June 2009 event when I ran a workshop on enterprise social networking, but the trend is true in general (from destination site, to networked services) as platforms create ecosystems (re: recent news on Salesforce, LinkedIn, etc). LinkedIn expands platform in attempt to one-up Facebook Connect | VentureBeat   LinkedIn aims to be an even more central part of your professional identity, by expanding its platform today with the site developer.linkedin.com . I've used this chart publicly since the E2.0 The roots of this perhaps go back to an old post by Marc Andreessen
Space Guidance Widgets, an attempt to make knowledge work sustainable. Third Sector); create a Open Business Eco-system that moved beyond a Market Economy and encouraged users to become Citizens – as has LinkedIN, Last Fm, Twitter, etc. We are asking people to collaborate and create a spontaneously-coordinated-framework of ‘Spatial Guidance Widgets’ that would then be ‘sold to the outside world’. We asked Gary Jackson to explain his p2p-inspired Space Strategy project , i.e. Gary Jackson: “Simplicity is obviously the other side of complexity!
Distributed Social Networking" (DiSO) is what a growing number of people are calling the move to aggregate and integrate our activities, data and social connections built up on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter and our personal blogs. (See Widgets and gadgets for doing various things, just like people add to dashboards now. Long time innovator Marc Canter has made a proposal for a system to let users integrate all their social networks from around the web into one central dashboard. He calls it the DiSO Dashboard .
In this episode of Social Media Business podcast, the concept of freemium is introduced – what it is, how Flickr, LinkedIn, SecondLife are making millions of dollars from giving stuff away for free. LinkedIn, in October 2009 had over 50 million members (plus 385 staff)   $75-100m – 1/4 from advertising. Along the way, Hoffman also used some of his PayPal proceeds We look at Freemium revenue in social networks and online communities including asking that: if freemium is the business model of giving it all (or most) of the services away for free , how can you then charge for it?
