I, Michael Sampson, presented on "Frameworks for Evaluating Collaboration Tools" -- team collaboration, organizational collaboration, and group collaboration. Gabriel Olsson from TetraPak presented a case study on "Changing Our Intranet". He was presenting on some of the tools they used in redesigning their intranet, in making it very focused on key user tasks, eg, use of "carewords" to find the key tasks (5 carewords We had lunch in the restaurant downstairs at the hotel. Lunch was good, but the thing that stood out most to me was the new security guard by the lifts.

James Robertson from Step Two Designs in Australia kicked off the day with "The Intranet in 2015". Pia Niemi from Wartsila presented a case study on "Redesigning and Spring Cleaning Your Intranet for Increased Success". Pia talked about how she led the rationalization of 50 disparate business and location-aligned intranet into an overall corporate intranet. Day 2 of IntraTeam Event 2010 is here. Looks like I was prophetic when I posted What’s the difference between Intranet 2.0 I highlighted how CoPs cut into email conversations and Intranet information.
That is, rather than using email for questions, communications, support, we use CoP tools.
Some CoPs also like the fact and a social network with groups .
Why do I say this?

Forrester recently released a report on What’s Holding Back Your Intranet? They found that 93% of employee respondents said they use an intranet or company portal (Forrester uses the terms interchangeably) at least weekly, and more than half reported daily use. However, they found that these intranets were mostly accessed for basic functions such as company directory, benefits information, and payroll. by Tim Waters with Matthew Brown and Sara Burnes. Getting an internal Facebook (social network and group feature) is a standalone tool, it has nothing to do with the Intranet, does it?
Unless you can structure it yourself like Nathan Wallace did with a Confluence wiki…not sure if SocialText can achieve a similar thing, but I believe OpenText Social Media, Lotus Connections, Jive, Awareness, Traction, Telligent, Connectbeam, and more suites made of components rather than designed as an Intranet.
Getting an internal Facebook that is designed as an Intranet replacement is more like Intranet 2.0, and

Toby Ward recently sent me a copy of the Intranet Global Survey that I participated in. The study included input from 561 organizations of all sizes from across the globe and the results reveal rapid adoption of social media on the corporate intranet in the past year.
