Integration
A good way for adopting new practices is in the design and integration with existing tools.
Just like Jon Mell describes less use of email by incorporating IM into email (placing it in the same spot where you create a new email)…what I would like to see at the end of an Office Communicator Live Meeting, is to be able to spin this real-time (synchronous) ad-hoc group into an asynchronous ad-hoc group using a social network and group tool. The other day when I posted on social networks and ad-hoc groups , I mentioned these online tools need to mirror both our offline behaviour, and our online real-time behaviour.

Mindquarry.com - Work on projects online or off-line, then synchronize as soon as you are back. The great part is that if you work on a document offline, once you go back online it will synchronize with other group memebers. it offers very extensive functionality and suits smaller companies like ours. The need for better intra-domain presence integration and interoperability is clear - but at the end of the day - communication vendors will not be well-positioned as the "master" presence system. The open conversation provides a level of situational awareness that people can benefit by - it helps them self-synchronize with a conversation flow if they need to involve themselves in an activity.

There are a range of new features in SharePoint 2010, including the Office ribbon interface, tighter Office integration, rich media support, and more.
SharePoint Workspace Client enables SharePoint data to be taken offline (or worked with online), with full synchronization back to SharePoint.
- Pillar 4 (team-aware calendaring): failed in 2007, unknown for 2010 (will have to federate calendars with Exchange to get a pass, Day 1 of the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 is underway. Here's what I've seen announced or discussed during the day.
